Tillie Polish Glamorous Collection Review

Provided For Review

Two posts in a day? Is this really Mucking Fussers blog?! Why yes, yes it is as I have finally reached a small lull in my school work! I went on a real swatching craze the other day and I am quite happy I did because even more polishes arrived at my doorstep. Its been a crazy awesome month. Here is a brand that I have been a patron of since their very first collection almost two years ago. The sisters from Tillie Polish always come up with beautiful collections and colors and this array of fall shades from their new Glamorous collection reaches those same standards.

Royals is a bronze shimmery cream that showed full opacity in two coats. This had a smooth application and was almost opaque in one coat. The shimmer on this beauty really makes it unique, and its such a gorgeous color for the coming months.

Queen Bee is a bright blue cream that showed full opacity in only one coat. This is such a smooth lacquer that I didn’t need topcoat to even it out, a recurring aspect of Tillie  Polishes creams (besides their summer 2013 collection which have more of a jelly finish to them then a cream one).

Ethereal is a nude cream that showed full opacity in three thin coats. Like many nudes in the polish world this was a little tacky after each coat leading to an increased wait time inbetween layers. After two coats it was almost opaque but I wanted to use a third to minimize streaking. The lightness of this nude does go with my skin tone kind of nicely

Posh is neutral taupe brown cream that showed opacity in two coats. Not as smooth of an application of Queen Bee but still quite lovely for only two coats and I am also showing it without topcoat. The color in general was a little streaky and showed darker patches in some areas but this really wasn’t too noticeable.

Glam Squad is made up of gold micro glitters in a gold shimmery to clear base. This could be worn alone in 2-3 coats but I went ahead and layered it over Queen Bee. This gold plus blue combo is a spot on combo for the fall season.

My favorites from this collection, even though I like them all, have got to be Royals and Queen Bee.

You can purchase the Glamorous collection which happens to be on sale from Tillie Polishes site.

Tillie Polish – Tillie, Snow Bunny & Enchanted Review

Provided For Review

I know I know I may be bombarding you all with these winter shades but I think you all will find these colors very much to your liking! Next up in this slew of Wintery shades are the ladies from Tillie Polish. Today I have three of the five new colors form their new Wonderland Collection and they are probably my favorite so, YAY! I always am so happy when the ladies ask me to share some of their shades with you all I really love using them.

Tillie is a tiffany blue cream with hints of silver shimmer through out. This showed opacity in two thin coats and was smooth enough not to apply topcoat for my photos. I really love this minty almost green cream and it fits perfectly with the rest of my Tillie polishes.

Snow Bunny has loads of tiny silver microglitters in a shimmery thin white crelly base. I would say this is mainly meant to be used over top another shade but I decided to use it on it own as it showed full opacity in three thin coats. The only downfall on this one was getting all the tiny glitters off my cuticles. But after a few close looks it really wasn’t too pesky. Much more sparkly then my photos show. I don’t think I have anything else like this shade in my collection its quite unique.

Enchanted is a royal blue cream. This only needed one coat on application and I didn’t apply topcoat for my photos, very smooth. If only all the creams I owned were as great as this one! Amazing application, lovely color, great cleanup and it marbles pretty nicely as well. Lately I keep finding myself grabbing this shade whenever I’m in need of a blue color. You may recognize it from one of my marbles for Hanukkah. Just an all around awesome polish.

Tillie Polish Last Night of Hanukkah Water Marble

Provided For Review

Born to a jewish mother, technically all jewish, and a baptist father I am lucky enough to be able to celebrate not only Christmas but also Hanukkah during this time of year! This year Hanukkah came super early and even fell on Thanksgiving, something that won’t happen for another 79,000 years they say. Last night was the eighth night marking the last night of this years Hanukkah celebrations. I took a break from studying for finals, which happen to be next week, and did my nails to celebrate one last time.

image

Last week I received a few new colors from Tillie Polishes Wonderland collection one of which was this amazing rich blue creme Enchanted. Before the girls even sent it to me I knew what I wanted to do with it and that was pair it alongside Golden Goddessone of my favorite Tillie colors. I used Golden Goddess as my base and then used OPI Nail Envy and Enchanted to marble overtop of it as these two dissimilar finishes would not work well in the water. The spaces were sort of large so I did something I personally have never done to a water marble but have seen many times. Adding the silver dots, using Aengland Excalibur, not only set off these large spaces but really helped bring both colors together in the Hanukkah spirit.

image

Here is the design without the dots and before Glisten & Glow HKgirl topcoat. This new vibrant shade of Blue is quite the eye catcher and is the perfect addition to my Tillie collection. I can see some wintery designs with this color in the near future!

All Tillie shades are 5-free and can be found at their STORE. Check them out on FACEBOOK and INSTAGRAM for new colors, sales and giveways!

Use the code MUCKING15 in Tillie Polishes store to get 15% off your order till 12/31/13!

I’ll have a couple other colors to show you all after I am done with finals! In the meantime you can also check out this other Hanukkah manicure if you missed it on Nail It! Magazines website with a HUGE tutorial!

Tillie Polish – Falling Collection shades

Provided for Review

It’s mucking swatch time up in this blog! Today I have a few shades from the ladies over at Tillie Polish. Their new Falling Collection consists of five new shades, three of which I have for you today.

Falling Fete is a tangerine orange cream with a beautiful golden shimmer. It applied lovely with two coats and my photo was taken with no topcoat. So smooth! The shimmer in this one is so pretty in the sun. Reminds me of the reflection on the pond from the fall sunset.

image

Fall Fete looks kind of in between a nude and an orange almost here in the shade.

image

Forbidden Fruit is a darkish red cream which just screams apple season. Smooth as an apple applying with just two flawless coats and no topcoat. This juicy cream is your perfect red for ze fall months.

image

And here we have Forbidden Fruit in the shade. Much darker then Tillie Polishes other red ‘Pretty Please With a Cherry on Top?’.

image

Who Let the Divas Out? is a dark purple plum cream which not surprisingly applied in two smooth coats. Purples never photograph well on my phone but this one did, it is true to the color. This shade is so smooth that the reflection from the clouds illuminated onto my nails and created a whole new look! Almost like I got really good with the brush overnight and did a whole landscape.

Really impressed with the formula of these fall shades. Some shades from their previous collection were a little on the thick side so I am glad to see an improvement. Check out my review for those HERE. I probably will be grabbing the rest of the collection as well as one of their matte topcoats from their new essentials collex.

All these shades are available for pre-order from Tillie Polishes site HERE.

Make sure to check them out on Instagram and Facebook for updates and giveways.

TUTORIAL: Sideways chevron

I had a few extra minutes this weekend to make a quick tutorial on the Water mabrle I just did using Tillie Polishes new spring collection. This was also requested by the lovely Jo (@Lacquer_lust) to add to her Dummie guide to indie polish.
IMG_5564
1.) First you want to gather all your supplies and prep for the marble. You will need 2-5 polishes, some toothpicks, a small plastic cup with room temperature filtered water, masking tape, a thicker stick to pick up excess polish and q-tips & polish remover to clean up.
2.) Apply a base coat of white (or the lightest color you are using) & let that dry.
3.) Rip off a piece of short masking tape to wrap around your finger near the base of the nail.
4.) Rip off a longer piece of masking tape to wrap around the sides and top of your finger (fingers can be wrapped individually or all at once. You may want to rip all the pieces you are going to use before you being marbling so you don’t mess up any nails in the process)
5.) Open the polishes and begin to drop one color after another into the water. Allow the polishes to spread on the surface of the water as you drop each polish
6.) The amount of rings you want to create will depend on the amount of different polishes you are using. For example in this marble I used 5 different polishes so I only did a ring of each color twice. When using 2 colors then 4 or 5 rings of each color may be desirable.
7.) Next drag from the center out with a toothpick.
8.)  Do the same from the middle to the other side.
9 10, 11,12) Next begin to drag the toothpick from side to side. If your polish fills the whole cup then you can anchor it onto the sides after each swipe. If it is kind of stagnate in the middle of the water then you are going to want to sort of dip the toothpick in the water after each swipe from side to side. This will aid in a cleaner neater design.
13.) Find the best looking design in the cup and rotate it if need be. Then gently dip your nail onto the surface and into the water leaving it submerged.
14.) With a toothpick or thicker stick, pick up the excess polish that is on top of the water so that your design is not ruined. Make sure you don’t bring up your finger too early or you will ruin the design. Also make sure you don’t nick your nail on the sides of the cup!
15.) Slowly take out your finger to prevent air bubbles and CAREFULLY take the tape off. Clean around your cuticles and under your nail slowly you don’t want to mess up your beautiful design. I like to clean each nail right after I marble it since the polish is still kind of wet which helps to get it off easier.
16.) Let your nails dry for at least 15 minutes you don’t want any smudges. Then apply top coat and your have yourself a beautiful marble design! ^_^
