Picture Polish Blog Fest 2014 featuring Nail Vinyls

Yay for another year of Picture Polish Blog Fest! I was able to participate and make a tutorial last year using some piCture pOlish shades which was great fun! This year there are two parts one of which is a swatch and the other being some nail art using Nail Viynls!

Grace is a pastel pale pink with scattered holo throughout that had flawless application in two thin coats. The holo gives it that nice extra shimmer and I did feel a little princessy with it on! This is a re-release of Ozotic 607 as they were discontinued a few months back.

All participates in this years fest were supplied with two colors and various Nail Vinyls to use for some fun nail art! We then had to use only these supplies, with the exception of black & white polish and a nail art brush, to create our designs. My colors were Chillax and Malt Teaser and I got some skinny chevron vinyls to work with.

I decided to go a little out of the box while staying in the boundaries with this angled chevron diamond look. At first I was worried it was a little too simple but after having it on my nails for a bit I started to really love the contrast of the middle nails.

Both colors had impeccable formulas and made it easy to work with the vinyls. I love that you can create perfect diamonds with the chevron style of vinyls!

piCture pOlish – Focus & Marble

Provided For Review

Well it has just been way too long since I have done a piCture pOlish manicure! What happened to those weekly posts Corynn?! Alas I think this one shall make up for my loss.

Focus made in collaboration with Pointless Cafe and piCture pOlish is a violet red shade with a sort of creamy finish to it. There are silver sparks throughout which make it stand out from just a simple cream. I used two coats with no top coat for the below photo. It applied super well for it being filled with all the sprakliness.

image

Trying to brainstorm what I wanted to do with this shade, I then realized I just needed to FOCUS and MARBLE! Using OPI’s nail envy and Aengland’s Camelot to marble overtop of Focus I achieved this super simple but fab look. Never have I done this with just one polish underneath.  I would call this marble design the clear sideways mermaid fin one and what a great way to spruce up any simple shade! Quite in love with this look for the fall months.

Sweet Chevrons – piCture pOlish Beige and Honey Dew

More piCture pOlish time! I have been really falling in love with all of piCture pOlish’s shades in the past few months and today I have fallen in love all over again with nail art in general. Presenting my first FULL on chevron mani!

image

Using three thin coats of Beige as my base I obtained such an elegant look. Honey Dew went perfectly along with it and I really love the perfection of the chevrons, if I do say so myself.

image

Also trying out a new watermark on my photos. Made a little rainbow heart using one of my water marbles as the background. Rainbow is after all my favorite color so I think it works perfectly! Just something else to add to ze photos.

image

Monday mail day happened today and I got myself a little black light from amazon. I’ve been meaning to get one for awhile now and it just so happens to get here when I’m wearing a black light reactive polish! Look at Honey Dew glow! This would look banging in the club, oh yes!

image

I found myself thinking about my love Jessie (IG: Nailsofjessiek) when doing these. She always has the best chevron and tape manicures! I showed these to her and she totally approved, patting myself on the back for this creation.

image

What do you guys think of this combination of piCture pOlish shades and how about that new watermark? Keep it?

piCture pOlish Blog Fest 2013- The year of the Blogger

Life has been super busy after getting all this new stuff from my mom moving to Hawaii, buy hey I see myself moving on up in the world and Lyle is doing great, my kitty cat we brought back home, so that feels great!

So today I am fortunate enough to bring you this post for piCture pOlishes Blog Fest. For this year over 180 bloggers were chosen to create some awesome art with three piCture pOlish shades and create tutorials to go along with them. They went with the motto of “the year of the blogger” I liked the sound of that. One of the shades I was provided with was Ariel’s Tale, aqua green hexes and mircoglitters galore! I really love it layered over Aengland’s Camelot, my favorite black.

image

Now the other two shades I got where Focus and Cosmos, both shimmery beauties. At first I was kind of stumped on what I wanted to create using these three shades but then I got totally inspired by Cosmos. I had never really tried doing “galaxy” or what I like to call Nebula nails before so I knew it was time to try it out. When I finished I instantly fell in love with the subtle mesh of colors I achieved. Using white as my nebula base and then mixing both Focus and Cosmos together I got this awesome shade in between the blue of Cosmos and the pink of Focus; an awesome purple hybrid sort of shade. Even my photos taken outside couldn’t do this manicure justice. The colors together were just so banging. When I went out in the sun the glitters in Ariel’s Tale reflected onto my skin just like mermaid scales or shinning stars, it was wicked cool!

image

Here is a photo from inside. You can really see how bright the nebula looks. I also stuck some glitters from Ariel’s Tale onto the nebula to act as more stars. I can see lots more Nebula’s in my future whether they be on my nails or in the sky!

image

And now it’s tutorial time! On top of these three picture polish shades you will also need your favorite black and white polish. You will also need some pieces of a makeup sponge, tweezers and a surface to dab your polish, I used one of my marbling cups.

image

1) Paint your nails black and wait for them to dry. Then paint your nails with two coats of Ariel’s Tale and let that dry for 20 minutes or so.

2) Dab some white polish onto your surface.

3) With your tweezer pick up a piece of makeup sponge and dab it onto the white polish. Dab this gently onto a paper towel to rid of excess white polish.

4) Now begin to dab the sponge onto your nail in a diagonal line. You can go back over it again if you feel that you need more white.

5) Next you are going to want to mix both Focus and Cosmos to create that different purple shade I mentioned before. Simply dab a drop of both polishes on top of one another.

6) Mix this with an orange stick or a toothpick till you see a color change.

7) Dab a clean sponge onto this new color and then dab it on top of the white. Leave some white visible so the effect can pop more.

8) Next dab some cosmos onto your surface. Again with a new sponge dab some cosmos onto it and then dab it onto your nails.

9 & 10) Here I just wanted to show how to dab on to another surface getting rid of some of that excess polish. Also this shows how many different blobs I have created. I am now ending with Focus to create some nice accents overtop of the purple and blue shades

11) Dab some focus onto your nails but do this shade a little less then the others.

12) Now clean up around your nail with a q-tip and a cleanup brush.

13 & 14) I also decided to add some glitter from ariels tale onto the nebula for just a little more of an effect. I used a really small dotting tool to do so.

Top it all off with your favorite top coat, mine is Glossy Glam by Justricarda, and you are good to go! Really not too hard for such a beautiful outcome.

Here is another version of a tutorial just to clarify things. If you have any questions or concerns please bring them to my attention in the comments below or on my Instagram and Facebook pages!

Fairy Floss by piCture pOlish with Stamping

Heya! Hope everyone’s week has been splenderiffic! The weekend is just beginning here and I’m excited to spend some time with my manly man ;] For today I choose to wear this GORGEOUS shade from piCture pOlish adorned with the greatest name, Fairy Floss.

Fairy Floss  is a light pink cream that kind of reminds me of cotton candy. Maybe its the cotton candy crowns the fairies wear that I’m thinking of. I used two coats with no top coat! I took this photo outside with my iPhone 4S camera. I never edit my photos besides cropping. I mean look at this color! Ah gorgeousness!

image

I really love this shade on it’s own. I can definately see myself using this more in the future. Also my snap dragons have decided to make their first appearance!

image

After finishing up the stamping on this manicure I was utterly disappointed. But now that I sit here and look at my photos and my nails I come to terms with the fact that it was only my 3rd time stamping at all! Using piCture pOlishes Mad Magenta to stamp with I used designs from Winstonia’s W104, W110 and W112. I also added some hot pink rhinestones which I got from amazon on my outer nails. This is what happens when you sit at your nail desk and don’t have the best plans. All in all it should be a nice design to out with tonight!

O’hara by piCture pOlish with Flag Accent

So glad I was able to do a couple water marbles and tutorials in time for the holiday. This month has been so full of swatches, not like that’s a bad thing! July should be the same way, half way through my piCture pOlish shades I have for you guys and lots of other goodies coming your way!

This time for my weekly piCture pOlish review I decided to go with O’hara! This beautiful bright red crelly filled with awesome holographic shimmeriness is my favorite I’ve tried yet! Hard to capture all the shimmer in a photo. I used two perfectly applied coats on its own and topped it with my seche vite top coat. LOVE!

image

Browsing on instagram last night as I started my manicure, I came upon a little video made by the ladies over at knailart for the design on my ring finger. A simple flag design using some nail tape!  I used piCture pOlish’s Bombshell for the blue sqaure and put some of Polishedbykpt’s Discoball on top to act as the stars. Using Aengland’s Excalibur overtop of my last striped water marble to create an abstract flag design. When I showed this to my man he was so impressed by the complexity of it! Sort of like a flag but it made him question. Check out knailart’s  instagram page HERE on how to do it for yourself!
