31DC2015 Day 10: Sunset Gradient w/ Uberchic Stamping

Yes yes I know, I’m technically behind on the 31 day challenge as today is supposed to be stripes! But hey that means I only have this and two more designs to get all caught up with! I am determined to stay on track. I gotta say I wasn’t looking forward to the gradient prompt as its a technique that I’ve only tried a few times, but they turned out better then I thought they would be. Wasn’t sure what color combo I wanted to do until I was came upon a design done by Sarah of Chalkboard Nails. Everything she does is pure perfection.

I used my new Uberchic Beauty mat, which I’m slowly falling inlove with, to combine the colors and then picked them up with a latex-free makeup sponge which I think helps prevent them from soaking into it. Also I feel like having the darker color on the tips gives it a nicer effect. I used OPI’s ‘A Oui Bit of Red’ for the middle color but it came out a little pink but I likes it. Stamping and top coating a gradient changes the whole game, it looks 10x better!

31DC2015 Day 5 Blue: Cirque Colors Water Marble

So I may be cheating a little bit today with the 31 day challenge. You see I did this manicure some time ago and never got around to posting anything. It’s not like it was a fail or anything I super duper lurve this manicure. I do feel very embarrassed though when I write to you that I’ve had these polishes to review since March… *slaps self on wrist* yea I deserve that and more. But we just gotta look on the positive side of things, I’m sharing them with you now and they are still in stock, woohoo!

What are these polishes you say? Well they are from none other then Annie of Cirque Colors a NYC based indie brand that constantly creates beautiful lacquers. I was so surprised to see ‘Hudson‘ and ‘Lady Liberty‘, part of the monthly Metropolis collection, water marble because I’ve tried with some of their other creams and didn’t have success. But I’ve recently been seeing more and more marbles using them so thats a plus in my book. Gotta get me more Cirque Colors like sooooon! You can to yourself as they are currently having a giveaway for the whole Metropolis collection, which is 16 polishes! All you have to do is subscribe to Cirque Colors newsletter on their site HERE. Two winners will be chosen so you have a good chance!

You may have noticed my temp tats that I added to go along with this manicure. At first I was trying to figure out the best placement and what I wanted to use from the samples Hot Jewels sent me. Its awesome how these are just like the temp tats I used when I was a younging. I forgot exactly which set of them I used but I remember having the Peace/love collection. I have a bunch more to use and also have a few to giveaway so be on the lookout for that if you wanna win yourself some temp tats! They sell these in many stores such as Wal-mart and target so don’t worry if you miss the giveaway I’m sure you can find em for yourself!

One more thing I got for review many moons ago and haven’t gotten to till now is this monthly perfume subscription from Scentbird. They offer over 350 different perfumes to chosse from, I went with Burberry Summer and absolutely loved it. Not only did I love the smell but I loved the way they sent it. This little perfume bottle twists to reveal the spray nozzle and twists back to hide it. How cute?! Or is it just me? I really like this service because it can sometimes be so overwhelming choosing a perfume. Plus this lasted me a good month or so! I’d say it’s a great deal for $14.95 a month.

And will you look at that… low and behold I’ve made ANOTHER tutorial. Three in a week?! There must be some sort of robot powering me up when I don’t know about it…. hmmmm mucking suspicions have arisen….

31DC2015 Day 4 Green: Water Marbled Leaves!

Umm people, is this really my blog? Are those really my fingers? I’m not sure if its mucking humanly possible to have posted on my blog for four days in a row and made two tutorials along with those posts?! I simply can’t believe my eyes. On top of all that I’ve gone and the unthinkable and did some water marbling and advanced stamping TOGETHER! Tedious work at times yes but I like the outcome.

Okay so bear with me folks this is the first time I’ve done a full on advanced stamping manicure and only my second time trying the technique. The tips got a little rusty and I fudged up the pinky but by the middle finger I got the hang of things and figured out my process. At first I was like hmm maybe I’ll do some like marbleized grass but then I was thinking hmm how can I make it even better…… STAMPING! I think the next time I do this the outcome will be much neater. But I have left perfection behind and am having fun with it all!

Holographic Christmas Tree Skittle

Provided For review

Now that it’s the first day of December its time to start dishing out the holiday designs! This manicure was so unintentional. I totally did not have this vision of Christmas trees to go along with Cirque Colors ‘Knickerbocker’ from their Metropolis collection but by golly gee do they look ever so fab over this dark chocolatey brown cream. Using holographic shades to create the trees made this design stand out all the more. Besides Color Clubs ‘Harp On’ all the rest are shades from Lacquer Lust’s Birthstone collection which you may have seen me recently use in my Thanksgiving day manicure. Amethyst, Emerald and Ruby are currently up for grabs in my mucking many millstone giveaway along with many other equally amazing prizes! The trees were blocked off using skinny straight vinyls from Nail Vinyls which like always showed impeccable application and use for this type of nail art. I fished out some glitters from Lumina Lacquer’s The Snow King for the star on top and sealed it all off with HKgirl topcoat from Glisten & Glow

FullSizeRender-58

Hmm shiny closeup, not macro, closeup as I just zoomed in on one of my less blurry photos. And why does a hair always have to be in the best picture I get… WHY?! I need to create a little vacuum thingy that sucks up all the hairs from a nail area. That would be the day.

FullSizeRender-59

Although this design is pretty easy I wanted to go ahead and make a tutorial for it. Check it out below!

What do you all think of this design? Was the purple nail too outta wack to fit with the others? How do you feel?

I have some more holiday tutorials in the works which I hope I can get done in-between these last few days of class!

Cirque Colors Metropolis Monthly Release Collection

provided for review

Well its been a nice relaxing thanksgiving break and I probably should have done more school work then I did but I just wasn’t feeling it. Plus I’ve had a cold for most of the time so I’ve just been enjoying my time with netflix with some nails mixed in. Soon school work will not be a burden in my life anymore as I will be graduating in less then two weeks now, I simply can’t believe it!

A brand that has been impressing me lately with its unique creations and colors is that of Cirque Colors. Everything I’ve tried from them has put a smile on my face when I used it. Their Metropolis collection did not fall short of that as it consists of creams, and well if you didn’t know that is my favorite finish of polish. Most likely because creams always work so good for water marbling but also because of their smooth application and settling on the nail. A new cream is released every month and added to Cirque Colors Metropolis collection gaining inspiration form the city that never sleeps, New York.

NYFW, the first shade released from this collection, is a deep bright blue cream that showed full opacity in ONE smooth coat. And just to show you how smooth this baby really is I didn’t even apply topcoat for my photos. Cirque Colors describes this as an ultramarine which after looking up means a deep blue. Ultramarine was the most expensive blue paint used by Renaissance painters so it only seems right to go with this shade inspired by NYFW. Pure perfection, just love it!

FullSizeRender-53

La Vie Boheme is a dark plum cream that showed full opacity in two coats. If you had smaller nails then you probably could get away with one coat but I used two just to even it all out. I couldn’t stop looking back at my nails when I had this beauty on, so great for the cold fall and winter months. The name on this shade comes from a song from the popular musical Rent which celebrates bohemianism. Can the inspiration for this shade get any better?!

This past week I received the Nail Vinyls variety pack prize for my Mucking Milestone Giveaway, enter HERE if you haven’t, and Linda their creator was kind enough to send me a couple sheets of vinyls to try! She included these Starburst vinyls which I used to create this manicure below with. The pairing of La Vie Boheme and Tillie Polish’s ‘Golden Goddess’ with these vinyls was quite nice in my eyes. I used Glisten & Glows HK Girl Topcoat before applying the vinyls and it only took 15 minutes to completely dry, it was like magic! And how about my nice chic hand pose I tried out? ;-)

FullSizeRender-55

Cirque Colors describes Knickerbocker just as I would, as a dark chocolatey brown. Pure perfection in just two smooth coats, this brown beauty leans a little lighter then what my below photo shows. I did some holiday nail art with this as the base that I’ll be sharing later in the week, be on the lookout!

I’ll be sharing some more colors from the Metropolis collection later in the week but you may want to take advantage of Cirque Colors current holiday sale where they are offering 20% off until December 1st! PRIZE #7 & #8: CIRQUE COLORS GLASS NAIL FILE and TEA TREE CUTICLE OIL STICK DUO (2 WINNERS)

This next prize is an essential one for any and everyone that does their nails. One of my least favorite things to do in the nail care process is file my nails. When I use a glass nail file, that dislike is greatly decreased. They file so much smoother then a regular one and it makes life that much easier. When you are finished up filing you must soak those cuticles in some oil. A easy way to do that is by using a cuticle oil stick which slowly drips out oil onto the attached brush. Great for next to bed or in your purse. Plus this one smells like tea tree, something that I use daily in my bodily health care.

IMG_6420

PRIZE #9: GLISTEN & GLOW ON THE GO SET

Another essential item for the average nail lover is a great topcoat and one of the bes out there has got to be HK Girl from Jill of Glisten & Glow. This set below contains one of those amazing must have topcoats, one stuck on blu base coat, a cuticle balm, a cuticle oil roller tube stick and a nail file and orange stick.
