Bsquared Lacquer Holiday 2013 Collection Review

Provided For Review

Although I really haven’t posted in the past couple of days that doesn’t mean I wasn’t hard at work swatching up a storm, cuz I was! Only getting up to eat and go to the bathroom (haha not really) I was able to finish up some lots of holiday polishes that I have to share with you all! Today it is Bsquared Lacquers turn as I have the full Holiday collection consisting of a lovely range of shades.

Whoville is a mix of neon star, hex and circle glitters with multicolored microglitters in a clear base. Shown is one dabbed coat over white with topcoat. First off the name and mix of glitters in this shade made me fall in love. Who doesn’t love some bright colors in the middle of winter? The base was a little tacky but not to hard to apply and the bigger glitters needed a little placement as I was using mini bottles. I think with full size all these shades would apply better!

Iceberg is a vibrant dark blue jelly with holo circle, square, hex and microglitters. I used one coat overtop of Tillie Polish ‘Enchanted’ with topcoat. The bigger circles had to be fished for some but again not too bad. This showed opacity in 3 coats on a swatch stick but I just like using jellies over another color.

Midnight is a mix of gold and silver circle, star, hex and square glitters in a black jelly base. It also has gold holo dust throughout which gives it a nice touch. I used one coat over black with topcoat. I found the circles and stars got a little lost in this one but one on the nail looked fab. A very appropriate shade for the New Year.

Holoberries is a cranberry holo in between linear and scattered. The reason why I say this is because the linear effect of the shade is kind of subtle but still there. My favorite of the collection, Holoberries took two thin coats for full opacity. Shown with topcoat under my OttLite blub (which I realized the other day is what I’ve been using and so happens to be one of the better lights to take photos with yay!) and then under an LED light which really shows the linear aspect of this beaut.

Radioactive Snow is a shimmery flakey effect topcoat that glows in the dark. First I used one coat overtop of LVX ‘Celeste’ as I wanted to show how much this thing glows. But I suppose I forgot that all my GITD pics come out blurry but for reals this topper makes light colors glow super bright light blue (see my little blurry pic). Over this shade it almost looks like yellow snow, HA!

image

And now to show what Radioactive Snow can really do to a nice dark shade. Here I layered it over black to show it in all its glory. Quite awesome right?!  This shade over black was a definite favorite of the bunch.

Glitzy has gold and silver holo circle, star, hex, square and microglitters in a clear base. I used one coat overtop of LVX ‘Modena’ and Rescue Beauty ‘Become One’. This reminds me very much of Midnight but without the black jelly base. Had to fish for the larger glitters but when on the brush they weren’t too tough to apply to the nail. Great sparkly gold topper for the holiday season.

White Lights is a mix of small gold circle, hex, square and microglitter in a white crelly base. I used three coats for full opacity. This was kind of patchy on application and might of looked nicer over a white shade. Smoothed it out with topcoat for a shiny finish.

image

Ho Cubed is a mix of small green, red and yellow circle, square and microglitters in a white crelly base. Learning from the last shade, I layered this one over white for a much smoother finish. The glitters in this one were a little sparse but this may have been due to me using minis as I mentioned before.

Heres a roundup of all the shades. I would say my top picks are Holoberries, Radioactive Snow and Whoville. Do you all have any favorites?

Let me say again I was using mini bottles so I feel that full size ones would apply much better for some of these shades.

As of right now the whole collection can be found on Bsquared Lacquer’s site HERE. Check out her FACEBOOK and INSTAGRAM for updates on restocks and new colors!

Bsquared Lacquer Change the Game

Saturdaaaaay and it feels so good! Been having a nice lazy saturday watching Doctor Who episodes leading up to the new one, oh how I love Netflix and Doctor Who.

As per my last post I had one last color to share with you from Bsquared Lacquer’s Instafamily Collection and it was definitely my favorite of the bunch. Change the Game is a scattered emerald holo which took two thin coats for opacity. Emerald is for sure my color for this years fall season and this one doesn’t disappoint. Took some inspiration from @cassondrafaye and @nailsofjessiek on instagram for this sleek chevron look using Tillie Polishes Golden Goddess. Gold and green, well really gold and any color is just banging together. Now for a little picture spam and a quick review on the Hkgirl topcoat I’ve been using lately.

Alright so I ended up wearing these nails for a whole TEN DAYS, yea I’ve been pretty busy, and as you can see below no chips at all occurred using Glisten & Glow’s Hkgirl topcoat. Of course there was a huge gap and that one chip near my cuticles on my ring finger was from me picking at my nails. After being in lab and taking multiple showers these nails still held up. Now yes my nails are nice and strong on this hand so the chipping already is lowered but seriously people. Hkgirl is really impressing me lately. Already went through a whole bottle and I’m on my second. I wouldn’t say this is the most throughout review of this product but I wanted to share my findings with you guys.

Bsquared Lacquer Instafamily Collection

Provided for Review

As you may have noticed I have been working on quite a few swatches lately. I never realized how much work painting your nails could be but I am quite liking it. Been setting myself up on the coffee table and watching a plethora of Star Trek on Netflix, don’t judge me it’s quite interesting stuff!

Ha you probably just pulled one of these looks after my last remark. Okay okay enough funny stuff, today I have some freaking awesome varnishes from Bsqaured Lacquer. Mia of  @Miadillpicklenails on Instagram has created her first indie line consisting of a lovely versatility of shades dubbing it the Instafamily collection.

All Aboard is a light blue scattered holo. I used three thin coats for opacity and then used topcoat to smooth it out. The blue in this is sort of on the teal side and the base is almost crelly like, thats why three coats was needed.

image

Purple Unicorns is as blurple scattered holo that showed opacity in three coats. I would say it’s a little lighter then what my photos show. This had the same formula as All Aboard but applied a little smoother. Really like this blurply color and had to add one of Hex Nail Jewelry’s cute little charms of a unicorn.

image

Up close on this unicorn charm as it is so cute. I’ve used this once before and it still looks fab. Need to place another order with them ASAP. Possible Christmas present mom??? Yes my mommy reads my blog :D

image

With All My Heart is a pink jelly filled with golden shimmery dust. I used three thin coats and a very faint VNL (visible nail line) could still be observed. I didn’t mind though since the color is so attractive. Added a marbled heart to go along with this pretty shade. The golden shimmer in this was quite the perfect addition.

image

Here is the final look as I felt the space above the heart needed some sparkle so I added a little Venique Sea Diamonds, the perfect mix of silver glitters to compliment any color.

image

Instafamily is a mix of teal, blue and purple large circular holo glitters, small blue and silver square glitters and then its filled up with lots of silver shimmery dust in a clear base. Here I used one layer with a little fishing for the larger glitters overtop of Fnug’s Hipsters which turned a little brighter after application. This has happened to me once before when using a green undie for a glitter polish but it still looks super fab. The teal, blue and purple circles are such a great match. Did an accent marble using some Bettina shades in Aqua and Purple

This next shade Fall Accessories  which is not part of the Instafamily collection but is a Limited Edition shade, is a mix of pink circle, orange hex, yellow medium and small purple square glitters in a white crelly base. The base is also filled with silver dust glitters. I used one coat overtop of white with a bit of placement for the glitter. That can be expected in this sort of lacquer as the glitters can get lost in the crelly base. I love the name and colors in this polish though and I added a marble to match using some Bettina shades.

All in all I was impressed with Mia’s first collection. I even saved one of the shades from the Instafamily collection, Change the Game, for another blog post so be on the lookout for that!

All of the Instafamily collection and Fall Accessories will be restocked on Nov. 30th at Bsquared Lacquer’s site HERE.
