Lumina Lacquer Mixed Tape Collection Part Two

As promised from yesterday I have some more Lumina Lacquer Shades from the new Mixed Tape Collection and I also have two new St. Pattys Day shades to share with you all tonight!

The first three shades are shown with topcoat and with a matte coat as they all have matte glitters.

No Ordinary Love is a mix of matte red heart, flower, circle, star, square and mircroglitters as well as some orange and light pink circles and hexes in a clear base.  I used one dabbed coat overtop of OPI ‘My Vampire Is Buff’. The orange glitters I feel add a little pop to this shade as Tatiana could have stopped at the red. Just another fact that shows Luminas great ability to create amazing combos.

Take My Breath Away is a mix of matte gray, light blue and light aqua heart, star, butterfly, flower, hex, circle, square and microglitter in a clear base. One dabbed coat with no fish as always with Polish My Life ‘Saint’ as my base. Yes, yes I used a gray base and there are gray glitters but when I tried it out on my swatch stick I instantly fell in love. Lovely shade for the winter time as it’s so nice and soft, very snow like over this gray base.

Dream Lover is a mix of matte neon pink heart,  circle, hex, square and micro glitters as well as holo hex microglitter in a clear base. The thing that makes this one stand out between the other two above is that it has tons of iridescent blue flakies hence me layering it over black. This was probably my favorite from the new collection mainly because of the effect those flakes gave off. Plus who doesn’t love neon pink?!

The Dear Little Shamrock has a mix of matte forest green clover, star, square and circle glitters, holo gold and silver circle, hex and microglitters all in a clear base. can’t enough of all the different shape glitters out today! Used one dabbed coat over Zoya ‘Goldie’ as and added an accent marbled clover using Julep ‘Leah’ and ‘Hoch’ (tutorial for this design found HERE) and the gold glitters are from Cult Nails ‘Walk Of Shame’.

Luck O’ The Irish holo green clover and circle glitter, holo gold and silver circle and hex glitter, matte green hex, circle and square glitter and matte dark green circle and hex glitters with lots of microglitters in all these colors in a clear base. I always try my best to describe the glitters in Luminas but there can just be so many! I used Julep ‘Korin’ (given to me by my girl Jessie) as the base for one dabbed coat of this festive shade.

Lumina Lacquer Mixed Tape Collection Part One

Provided For Review

Always excited to share some Lumina Lacquers with you and today I have the new Mixed Tape Collection, Part one, for your viewing pleasure. All these Valentine shades are named after amazing songs so that helps add to them for me.

Nothing Compares 2 U has gold and cranberry holographic circles and hexes in various sizes as well as golden hearts in a clear base. This mix of cranberry and gold is quite a good match. I used one dabbed coat with no fishing overtop of OPI ‘Mermaid Tears’.

IMG_9480

Wonderwall has black, dark and light blue heart, circle and hex glitters as well lots of microglitters in a clear base. I decided to showcase this overtop an ombre using Zoya ‘Edie’, ‘Breezi’, ‘Robyn’ and ‘Rocky’. No trouble getting all the large glitters out as usual and the mix of blue and black reminds me of Lumina Lacquers 1000 Julys which is one of my favs to date. I’ll have to wear it again and see if this one takes the cake.

IMG_9482

Let Me Love You Down is a mix of purple, lavender and red matte and metallic star, heart, circle and hex glitters as well as purple and lavender squares and microglitters in a clear base. I used one dabbed coat with a little maneuvering overtop over Zoya ‘Goldie’.

IMG_9483

We Found Love is a mix of purple, silver and black heart, circle, star, moon and hex glitters, gray hex and circle glitters and lots of tiny microglitters in a clear base. The colors and holo glitters are quite to my liking as I am a sucker for purple. Used OPI ‘You’re Such a Budapest’ and then Zoya ‘Darcy’ on my ring as undies for this beauty.

IMG_9484

Clear Eyes, Full Hearts is a scattered cobalt blue holo with a cream like finish. The first coat of this was a little thick but on the rest of the nails it evened out pretty nicely on application. It might of just been because I had too much polish on my brush for that first nail. Used only one coat and no topcoat for my photo below which is quite impressive. Lumina’s holos have this amazing formula and they work great for marbling so I used this and Forever Thine, Forever Mine (pictured below) for a subtle accent nail.

IMG_9485

Forever Thine, Forever Mine is a scattered ocean blue holo with blue micro glitter and had a that same cream like finish. Left the accent marble on using this and Clear Eyes, Full Hearts then applied one smooth perfect coat with no topcoat for my photos. Lumina’s holos are perfect, enough said on that matter.

Enjoy these closeups of Wonderwall, Love Me Love You Down, Nothing Compares 2 U and We Found Love.

Lumina Lacquer More Holiday 2013 Shades

Provided For Review

Had a nice Holiday evening last night with Spencer (my boyfriend, best friend and roommate for the past 4 years). He took me out for lunch and we did some downtown shopping. Got a few last minute gifts, well really all the gifts and then listened to Christmas music and played a few games back home. Just an all around nice day, what a great time of year! So for my last holiday swatches I am very excited to share with you some great new Lumina Lacquer glitterbombs all which have some very different shapes of glitter to them. Lets start with my favorite, probably because it is the most colorful!

Lights, Christmas, Action has an abundant mix of multicolored large and small holo circle glitters in a clear base. This polish also has holo christmas tree glitters! Now I am sure your first thought is how the heck do you get those out of the bottle?! Well with Luminas it is usually all to easy to apply these larger glitters as the base is quite perfect; these really weren’t all to hard to get out. For my pointer I used a tree from inside the bottle and for the rest i used some extra loose tree glitter which you get when purchasing this shade. I just absolutely love love love this one! I layered it over black  which I think is the perfect combo as there are just so many colors and the silver dust mimics those glistening lights.

image

image

Had to add in an extra photo, I mean its christmas tree glitter people!

image

All Tied Up  is a mix of white, pink, fuchsia and  silver hex and circle glitters in a clear base. There are also white, pink and fuchsia bow glitters! After some shaking and a little bit of fishing for the bows I added it over top of Polish My Life’s ‘Raspberry Roses’ and ‘My Violet‘ (some of the most amazing cream formula’s I’ve tried) and Tiliie Polish’s ‘Tillie’ which is what the marble is done with. How girly and cute is this shade?! All these new shaped glitters on the market are so awesome and I love Lumina Lacquer’s use of them.

image

image

The Snow Queen has holo silver and blue star, circle, hex, square and microglitters in a clear base. This beauty also has holo snowmen and snowflake glitters!  I decided to layer this one over top of Tillie Polishes ‘Tillie’. When using this shade if I got a snowflake or man on my brush I would just use those but if not then I would dab my brush on an extra loose glitter which is also provided with any bottle. I don’t mind this and think it isn’t a hassle at all to have crazy shaped glitters on my nails. If I don’t have a marble on my nails then I usually have some kind of glitter, or a holo I can never get enough holo.

image

image

The Snow King (I know now you’ll need both! She also has The Snow Prince & Princess, it’s like a whole little family) is a mix of light/dark purple, silver and gold circle, hex and microglitter as well as holo silver star, heart, snowmen and snowflake glitters all in a clear base. I applied this one the same as I did The Snow Queen, grabbing the loose glitters when needed. Decided to layer it over Square Hue ‘Flower Power’, Cult Nails ‘Faded’, Rescue Beauty ‘Mismas’ and LVX ‘Modena’  as I felt gold and purple look pretty nice over all these colors and a King deserves to be showcased in the nicest manner.

image

image

As mentioned before extra loose glitters are supplied for polishes with those larger odd shaped glitters and really no problems on application. All these manicures were smoothed out with 1-2 coats of Glisten & Glow ‘HKgirl’ Topcoat which is still my go to topcoat these days.

These are only a few of the holiday polishes Lumina Lacquer has created for this year and they will be restocking after Christmas again so you still have a chance to grab these unique glitterbombs some are even available now in her store HERE. Also check out Lumina Lacquer on FACEBOOK and INSTAGRAM for new colors, restocks and giveaways!

Now that I am done with swatching all the Holiday shades I had to share with you all I am hard at work creating some Holiday looks before the actual day comes! Not sure if I’ll have any tutorials but there still will be some cool designs I have planned.

Lumina Lacquer Holiday 2013 Shades

Provided For Review

Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas over at Lumina Lacquer. She already has a bunch of new holiday shades and I am excited to show you all these four. Every time I use some lumina’s I get all happy and cheery inside.

God of Wine is a berry red scattered holo with red holo glitters. One coat for full opacity and no topcoat for the photos. Also the dry time on this shade was impeccable. I was eating and bumping around and I saw no dents whatsoever, and thats w/o topcoat. The vampy berriness of this shade is so on point. Added Tillie Polishes Golden Goddess for an accent.

image

Tried my luck at stamping again, I really am determined! Used Winstonia Stores W117 plate to add some wine glasses with God of Wine. Only appropriate right?

image

Wrapped in Red is a red scattered holo with red holo microglitters. I used one coat with no topcoat and once again wow! Lumina Lacquer I would say specializes in glitter bombs but I now need every color in this scattered holo finish from her for as you can see they water marble! Using Wrapped in Red and Zoya’s Shawn I did a mermaid fin design, or what now is going to be called a Christmas tree as it is the holiday months. I was surprised to see this work so well in the water as there are little microglitters in it but holy holo!

image

image

Three Ch-Ears for Mickey Ears has black red and pink mickey, hex, circle, heart, diamond and square glitters in a clear base. It also has holo microglitters which give it the effect that there are many other colors in it. Here I used one coat with no fishing overtop of Tillie Polishes Golden Goddess, Zoya Midori, Purity and America with Glisten and Glow HKgirl topcoat. When you purchase this shade a portion of the proceeds will go towards the Toys for Tots Foundation. What a great way to give back and look fab!

image

A little closer look at all the different colors these holo microglitters give off. The mickey glitters aren’t too large and the combo of colors in this shade is quite a special one.

image

Candy Cane Lane has red and white hex, circle and square glitters in all sizes. It also has white stars and red holo hearts, circles, and candy cane glitters all in a clear base. Yes folks those are candy cane glitters. Tis the season and what comes with it is lots of different shapes of glitter. Some other Lumina Lacquer shades have snowmen, snowflakes and bells in them! Since these candy canes are so large a little fishing had to be done but that wasn’t too frustrating as she added a little bag of extra glitters in case you can’t get them out. Striped water marble was done using Zoya America and OPI Nail Envy. This prevents the white and red color creating a pinkish shade.

image

Up close with Candy Cane Lane. The star of this shade of course is the candy canes but the hearts, circles and stars really stand out to me as well. Great glitter bomb for the holiday.

image

image

I personally loved all these shades. Quite unique and so gorgeous. Any thoughts from you guys?

All these shades can be found at Lumina Lacquers store HERE. Check out Lumina Lacquers FACEBOOK and INSTAGRAM for restock info, new colors and giveaways! A restock will be happening next week!

Witches Leggings Halloween Water Marble w/ tutorial

A Waterfall water marble is what I have come up with and is what you have before you this very evening. The reason why I am calling this design a waterfall one is because the way the colors were placed on my nails reminded me of the ripples in water. *After posting this design I had someone mention that it looked similar to witches leggings which I have to say is so on point. I don’t really like the term waterfall marble now that I think of it for this design.* I have a short tutorial at the end of this post for it is actually a really simple marble design. I used OPI’s Mermaid Tears and In My Back Pocket as well as Bettina’s Onix for this design. Instead of using white as a base I used Mermaid Tears which worked great to show full opacity of all the colors. I then topped it off with Lacquer Lust’s I like it Ontop and then Glisten and Glows HKgirl topcoat. I used Lumina Lacquers Peculiar Pumpkin Posse on my thumb which has pumpkin holo glitters in it! Also check out them square pretties! Finally was able to file em down, I like them much more this way

image

image

Close up of this amazing glitter topper from Lumina Lacquer, Peculiar Pumpkin Posse over OPI Mermaid Tears. I added some extra pumpkins glitters that I didn’t get out of the bottle since hey they are pretty big glitters. Moons, hearts, diamonds and so many other glitters fill this baby up.

image

For supplies needed check out one of my other tutorials HERE. This is going to be a super quick tutorial so if you have any questions afterwards please ask. This design works better with shorter nails.

1) Create your desired bullseye. I used five rings of colors for my bulleyes.

2) Take your stick and drag from the middle to the sides of the cup.

3) Do this again from the middle to the other side of the cup.

4) Find the largest part of the half circle, line up your nails and dip it.

5) Leave your nail submerged while you pick up the excess polish ontop of the water.

6) Take off the tape you used to keep your finger clean and then use an orange stick/qtip/cleanup brush to further clean around your nail and cuticle

image

*After looking at it you really wouldn’t have to even make a design in the water like I have here. I think I did this so that the lines would be straighter for if you didn’t do strokes from the middle to the rim of the cup it would you would get more curved lines in your design*

*Edited*

*I wrote this post too quickly and too late at night so forgive me on that one.*

Limited Edition: Zoya Peter Som trio & Lumina Lacquer Mickeys Moonlight Masquerade

YES! Time for nails! It’s so rare now that school has started. After my first two tests of the semester I just had to take a little time to tend to the pretties, I miss doing them so much! I got myself a nice rack that holds 60 polishes which is now on my desk and has all the ‘must use’  polishes on it. Hopefully that will organize things a little more and after one more test next week I shall be having a major swatching and marbling fest!

Yesterday I picked up my mail which had been building up all week. One of the packages had Zoya’s Limited Edition Peter Som trio which I just had to grab. I used two coats of Alexa (teal) and Edie (blue) and then three of Stella. Out of them all I liked Alexa the most. Its sort of a greenish teal cream and its perfect for the coming months. The mermaid fin water marble was done with all three overtop of white.

image

But oh no I just could stop there. Using one amazing coat of Lumina Lacquers new Limited Edition shade, Mickeys Moonlight Masquerade, from her Mickey Mouse Halloween trio I achieved this banging look. I LOVES IT SO HARD!

image

Mickeys Moonlight Masquarade has way too many different kinds of glitter to name off.  It has got to be one of the more complex polishes from Lumina Lacquer that I have seen before. Here are a couple close ups to show you the complexity. I really love the big squares and of course the Mickey glitters in this one.

image

image

This combination of colors,  using this Zoya trio,  is one that I would not have considered right off the bat. I feel like this is way I am crushing so much on this manicure.

image

image

Here is the whole trio of Mickey Mouse inspired Halloween polishes from Lumina Lacquer. Mickeys Moonlight Masquerade, Deselfie De Mickey and The Sorcerers Haunted Mansion are all available for pre-order from Lumina Lacquers site located HERE.

image

What a creative trio for Hallwoeen! Make sure you grab these while you can because they are Limited Edition!

Check her out on Lumina Lacquer on Instagram and on Facebook to get up to date information about new releases and restocks.

Also the Zoya trio is not availble on Zoyas site any longer as it was Limited Edition.

Back to  school tomorrow for me and then a weekend full of nails on the way!
