Lumina Lacquer Mucking Rainbows Luminated Ladies Collection

I am so EXCITED about this weekends post! Like seriously I have been on the edge of my seat for weeks getting so hyped! Alright so awhile back the glorious and great Tatiana of Lumina Lacquer asked me if I would like to be a part of a collection that she was creating. Tatiana wanted to work together with her favorite bloggers/IGers and create a shade with each of them. What an amazing idea!

Now at first I was having a hard time coming up with what type of polish I wanted to create with Tatiana. Do I choose a jelly, maybe a shimmer, or do I go with the ever favorite of mine GLITTER BOMB! Yea, I went with the glitter bomb, you just can never go wrong with a glitter polish from Lumina Lacquer! Then I had the problem of deciding which colors and what types of glitter. Can you tell I am bad at making decisions? So with a little thought and some IMAGINATION, as spongebob would say, we came up with…

large

MUCKING RAINBOWS! YES, you heard me right, Mucking Rainbows! The name decision was tough as well! Ode to you indie makers, naming polish is hard!

image

Let me just inform you on the contents of this super hardcore banging beauty of a glitter bomb. Large holo circles in teal and silver; large metallic circles in dark purple; large, medium and small hexes in neon pink, neon green, dark purple and teal; small circles in pink, purple and teal; green, pink and orange shards; silver holo moons and microglitters. Need I say more?

image

Right when I got Mucking Rainbows in the mail I sat myself down and swatched it over a rainbow of colors. I used one coat, NO fishing, of Mucking Raninbows overtop of (L-R) Cult Nails Love at First Sight, Riot, Butter London Cake-Hole, Wellies, Pimms, Silly Billy, CN Evil Queen, Tillie Polish Golden Goddess, Aengland Excalibur, CN Tempest and Aenglands Camelot. Just want a sight! This was taken in a semi shaded area, don’t mind the background, which really shows all those different types of glitter whether  it be metallic or holo. What did I pair Mucking Rainbows with you ask?

image

TA-DA!!! I choose to use Aenglands Camelot, my favorite black, as my base for Mucking Rainbows. Plus the silver mircoglitters really stand out, something I think brings the whole polish together. And oh yes that is a water marble on my outer nails. I used Sally Hansens Lacey Lilac, Blue Me Away, Fuchsia Power, Sun Kissed, Yellow Mellow and Green with Envy, shades that always work for marbling. I don’t even know how I got such great placement on my pointer finger it is the best paring for Mucking Rainbows! Now time for some super spam of this manicure!

I heart Mucking Rainbows so hard! Here is what my heart looks like when I see it.

Now let’s get a little up close and personal with Mucking Rainbows. This marco shot is kinda reminding me of a rainbow in the nighttime, from the shiny teal holo circles to the sporadic holo moons scattered throughout.

Here is Mucking Rainbows out in the sunlight overtop my thumb. Since it is so large I was almost able to get every kind of glitter onto it. WOW I am seriously falling in love all over again with this glitter freaking bomb!

Macros of glitters always give me such…

I feel so lucky to have this shade in my collection and well just for it to exisit! Tatiana and I went back and forth till we came up with the perfect shade for me.

image

This was such a big secret! Today is the first time I got to see the other girls colors and they are all equally amazing as Mucking Rainbows! I am going to have to complete the collection and grab the other three. This is only part one of Lumina Lacquers Luminated Ladies Collection so make sure you follow Tatiana on Instagram and Facebook.

Mucking Rainbows and the first part of the Luminated Ladies collection will be releasing this Tuesday 8/27 at 11am Pacific time on Lumina Lacquers store.

Save the Bess Bestie Twin Mani

Did you guys catch the below photo last night on Instagram? Awhile back now I sent Jessie (IG: @nailsofjessiek) one of Hexnail Jewlery’s charms as well as Sally Hansen’s Yellow Mellow and Black Out. I didn’t give Jessie much choice and made her do some bestie twin nails with me. These manicures are for Saving the Bees!

image

You may of heard about how the Bee population in the world is slowly dwindling. Some say it is due to the increased usage of pesticides which affect the incests immune system. Some bees are just disappearing from their colonies giving it the term “Colony collapse disorder.” Honey Bee’s in particular are essential for pollinating large crop field’s and without them we could lose the lovely variety of vegetables and fruits that we have in our super markets. Bee keepers around the country transport large amounts of bee colonies just so those particular plants can be pollinated.

image

Bees are just too cute, when they aren’t stinging you, so why not do a save the bees mani?! A little while ago Celina (IG: @celinas_treasures) did a manicure with a polish line from Norway that is creating polish especially for saving the bees. I suggested we start the tag #savethebeesmani on Instagram to try and raise awareness about this worldwide occurrence.

image

Let’s make sure our crops aren’t harmed any longer from this. If you’d like to you can sign this ongoing petition at change.org HERE to ban certain chemicals from being sprayed on our crops, something France did back in 1998, lets get with the program! I’m not going to sit here and lecture or push my beliefs so if you would like more information check out this 60 minutes video HERE back from 2009.

image

We used Colette’s tutorial from Simplelittlepleasures on youtube, she is really the watermarbling goddess, check her out if you want to try this water marbling design!

You can purhcase these sally hansen colors, which I always have success with at your local drugstore or walmart. If you are international then you can get them HERE.

The bee charm can be found HERE at hexnail jewlery’s site.

Don’t forget to tag your Bee mani’s with #savethebeesmani!

Lumina Lacquer- Get Lucky, Pinball Wizard & Max is the New Black

Quickie post on three new shades from the oh so incredible Tatiana of Lumina Lacquer! I can’t express enough how much I love all the glitter bombs and other shades from Lumina Lacquer! Be on the look out for an awesome surprise!

Get Lucky has blue, red, orange and silver glitters in large, medium and small hexes and circles as well as micrgoglitters. There are also silver holo moons. I used one perfectly dabbed coat overtop of OPI’s Green-wich Village, it really makes the colors pop. Did an accent water marble using Green-wich Village, OPI… Eurso Eurso, The thrill of Brazil and In my Back Pocket. I think this shade is just perfect for the upcoming fall season, plus I really like that new Daft Punk song tehehe.

image

Pinball Wizard is filled with all sorts of matte glitters in many different primary colors. Large and small hexes, circles and squares as well as hearts, stars and moons all in blue, red, green, pink, yellow, purple, black and white! Whew now thats one colorful pinball machine. I used one dabbed coat and there was no fishing what so ever for the large glitters. On my outer nails I used Cult Nails Love at First Sight and then mattified it with Julep’s matte topcoat. I then used Tillie Polishes Golden Goddess on my middle finger with top coat. I love the contrast of both the colors, the purple reminds me of playing pinball and the gold reminds me of winning all those points! Had to do a spiral water marble to go along with Pinball Wizard using Aengland’s Camelot and Excalibur kind of representing the pinball.

image

Max is the New Black is a dark almost black jelly filled with silver microglitters. The blue base fooled me and made me think that there were blue micro glitters as well, so awesome! I used one coat, thats right one coat of Max is the New Black on my middle fingers. Even with Lumina Lacquers jellies she perfects the application, not thick and just the way a jelly should apply. Impressive for how much glitter there is in this baby. Did some water marble accents using Cult Nails Time Traveler and Aengland’s Camelot.

image

LOVE all these new shades!

All these polishes will be available at Lumina Lacquers shop HERE very soon!

So check her out on Lumina Lacquer on Instagram and on Facebook to get up to date information.

And don’t forget about that surprise ;)

Gradient and Watermarble Art – Ethereal Lacquer

Last Sunday I attempted my first full on chevron manicure and I loved the way it came out. Well this Sunday is was time to try a full on gradient. I have done a full gradeint in the past but only once and it didn’t blend too welll. I think I have fixed that problem using some beautiful pastel shades from Megan over at Ethereal Lacquer. I had been lemming her pretties since I first saw them and was fortunate enough to meet up with Megan last week.

image

I used a base of Cult Nails ‘Tempest’ and then sponged on some of Ethereal Lacquer’s Neon Nectar and Chelsea Rose. They both worked great for using in a gradient. Neon Nectar is a little more jelly like then the creaminess Chelsea Rose has but still was able to show opacity over the white. Theses photos are without topcoat but they still look so blended. I’m not a gradient expert, this being my second time doing one, but I gotta say I am pretty proud of the gradient I achieved.  But I couldn’t just stop there.

image

I did what I do and added a clear and white marble to it! I don’t think I could be more in love. For the water marble I used Tempest and OPI nail envy (a trick I learned from IG: Jessuhhhkuh).Nail Envy worked great for it didn’t dry up as fast as some other clear coats I’e used before. Now prepare for some photo spam of this manicure.

image

Did I mention these shades from Ethereal Lacquer glow in black light? This seems to be a trend for Sunday’s, elegance and glowiness.

image

I love the elegance of this whole look. The two colors look fab together and the white just makes them pop even more.

How do you guys feel about my 2nd gradient attempt?

Ethereal Lacquer has lots more shades in her pastel collections well as some other lovely shades all which are restocked HERE.

Review Different Dimensions – Glittery and Glowy shades

Well I have been on quite a roll this week with my blog posts, maybe I should give myself a pat on the back! Been getting a little stressed snice school is right around the corner, but I’m sure when it starts things will be all peachy dory.

Here is a post that is a little overdue, some awesome Different Dimension Glittery lacquers, two of which glow in the dark. I have posted all these on my Instagram in recent weeks but they deserved their own post.

Merry Go Round has a white crelly base which glows blue in the dark! This polish has black, light pink, fuschia, and silver circles small and large. There are also black, light pink and blue squares and microglitters. What a combo! I used one dabbed coat of Merry Go Round overtop of Cult Nails ‘Tempest’.

image

Just look at this beauty glow! I love the way the big glitters make patches in the glowing effect. I charged my hand under light for just 10 seconds to achieve this glow. If you didn’t see it already check out this video I made on Instagram HERE.

image

Imitation is the Most Sincere form of Flattery has a clear base that glows teal in the dark. It contains silver holo microglitters with hints of purple. I used one coat overtop of one of my water marbles, what I like to call recycling a manicure, where I used Orly’s ‘Glowstick’ and an unnamed Island Girl pink. Not only do I love the name of this polish but I love the subtle sparkle it gives.

image

Overtop of my marble it glowed teal over the yellow and a mix of purple and pink overtop of the pink. I just love me a good glow polish. I also only charged this under the light for 10 seconds or so to achieve the awesome glowiness. I also made a quick video on Instagram for this shade. Check it out HERE.

image

My Highlighter Exploded is a clear base glitter topper filled with large neon pink and green hexes. There are also neon pink, green, blue and yellow medium and small hexes with lots of neon purple mircoglitters all in a matte finish. Here I used one coat over Cult Nails ‘Tempest’ and then added my Julep Matte coat because I love matte glitter, it really helps show all the glitters in a photo.

image

Here it is with topcoat, neon overlaod! The name goes perfectly with the combo of neons. I did a dry marble using some sally hansen xtreme wear colors, which also work great for water marbling. I do have a tutorial on dry marbling which can be found HERE. My Highlighter Exploded isn’t available as of now in Different Dimensions store but should be restocked soon!

You can find these and many more shades from Different Dimension’s HERE at her Etsy store.

Review Black Luna Lacquer – Kelly, Mystery and Ghost

Hey beautiful people! Today has been kind of a funky day for me not sure what my brain is feeling. But alas I have some shades from a great indie brand named Black Luna Lacquer. You may have seen me share a few other shades from this brand on my Instagram, all which I have been impressed with.

Kelly is a cream based purple with iridescent microglitters. My photos show it a little brighter then it really is. I used two coats which applied nicely. I really like the shape of the bottles and the brushes this brand has as well. I absolutely love the shade of this color! I saw it awhile back and knew I needed it and was so happy when I was sent it! This shade could for sure be worn on its own it stands out really nicely. I decided to do a little ‘glitter gradient’ using Venique ‘Sea Diamonds’ which I recently received from my friend Jessica (IG: Jessuhhhkuh). Its the perfect glitter topper and I really love the elegance of it along with Kelly.

image

Mystery is a metallic dark blue jelly with blue and silver microglitter. I used two coats which applied pretty nicely for all the glitter that was in it. Added a chevron accent using Black Luna Lacquers ‘Master Plan’ and Aengland’s ‘Excalibur’. Blue and yellow are my school colors so maybe that’s why I came up with this combo. Yea for school spirit!

image

Ghost is a white crelly with a pearly finish and holo microglitters. Ghost could also be appplied in 3-4 coats for full opacity but I decided to use one coat overtop of Cult Nails ‘Tempest’. I then added some of China Glazes ‘I’m not Lion’ on my accent. I think I’m on an elegant kick or something.

image

All in all I am really liking the shades that Black Luna Lacquer has been creating. I even placed an order for one of her more popular shades ‘Cat Eyes’ which is a lovely minty cream, I just couldn’t resist.

You can purchase all these shades at Black Luna Lacquer’s store HERE.
