31 Day Challenge Stripes: Pastel Rainbow Awesomeness

Even though I feel behind on the 31 Day Challenge I’m still going to keep rocking it! Granted I was going to try and catch up and post a couple designs in one day but I wanna have fun with this and not just do a bunch of art real fast that I have to take off right away. My previous gradient I did really hit home on that fact as I took them off to do my polka dot nails when I finished taking photos. Yes yes the mario nails were awesome but I would have loved to rock the gradient I did just for at least a day. Also I like having a life now and then outside of nails and these design are taking a lot of creativity out of me!

With that said, stripes hmm stripes what shall I do for stripes? Well google stripes of course and get inspo from that and that is just what I did. There was this pastel rainbow image that just kept catching my eye so I figured why not take a shot at it. For some reason it took me like 30 minutes to figure out how to block it off on my nails HA! At least it came out super similar and pretty darn cute besides those bubbles in my topcoat, rawr. Those pops of black just totally make it.

The first step looked kinda cool with the negative space. Whew so much striping tape! I used 12 pieces for each nail! Yea, I’m not taking these off right away.

Like I said I may not be keeping up with the challenge every day but its my main nail goal so be on ze mucking lookout!

31DC2015 Day 11 Polka Dots: Mario Mushrooms

I’ve been hard at work getting caught up with this challenge so why not have two posts in one day?! I decided to take a little different approach for the polka dot prompt of the 31 day challenge and did a design that has been on my to-do list for some time! Mario mushrooms! I love Mario! I even named my dog Yoshi!

If you are a Mario freak like me then you know right away that these are the 1-Up and get bigger mushrooms in all of the Mario games, well they somewhat resemble them at least. Instead of using whiter I began with three coats of LVX ‘Rhone’ from the Fall 2015 collection which resemble the perfect skin tone color.

Saw this image online and felt it matched up perfectly with this design plus I kind of love the saying when comparing it to Mario!IMG_0798

31DC2015 Day 10: Sunset Gradient w/ Uberchic Stamping

Yes yes I know, I’m technically behind on the 31 day challenge as today is supposed to be stripes! But hey that means I only have this and two more designs to get all caught up with! I am determined to stay on track. I gotta say I wasn’t looking forward to the gradient prompt as its a technique that I’ve only tried a few times, but they turned out better then I thought they would be. Wasn’t sure what color combo I wanted to do until I was came upon a design done by Sarah of Chalkboard Nails. Everything she does is pure perfection.

I used my new Uberchic Beauty mat, which I’m slowly falling inlove with, to combine the colors and then picked them up with a latex-free makeup sponge which I think helps prevent them from soaking into it. Also I feel like having the darker color on the tips gives it a nicer effect. I used OPI’s ‘A Oui Bit of Red’ for the middle color but it came out a little pink but I likes it. Stamping and top coating a gradient changes the whole game, it looks 10x better!

31DC2015 Day 9 Rainbow: Classic Petal Water Marble

Darn my darndid iMovie slowing down my whole computer! Okay granted I have been on it for quite awhile and its getting a little hot hmm maybe I should give it a break? Nah! I need to get this manicure out to you guys I’m sure my computer will understand! I’ll have the video tutorial for this up when my iMovie wants to cooperate with me.

Are there really any words that I need to say to explain how much awesome sauce this manicure posses?! When Pipe Dream Polishes hit the market last year they floored everyone with their fantastical neon hues and impeccable water marbling formulas. Their neon colors have gained so much hype that they’ve become so hard to get! The demand exceed the restocks and it is just insane in the membrane! On a nicer note once you have these in your hands you have a feeling of not only excitement but pure joy. Neons that water marble are like liquid gold in my book.

It was inevitable that I do a rainbow water marble using the Street Carnival collection from Pipe Dream Polish for todays 31 day challenge prompt. Rainbow is after all my favorite color. I could stare at my nails until I went blind I love these so much! The saddest part about this manicure is that I need to take it off to do the next prompt. Wahh I don’t wanna go to school mom! I mean I don’t wanna take these nails off! Wahhh!

Alright enough crying you crazy rainbow lady. Around this time lat year I posted my first YouTube tutorial using Pipe Dream Polishes Night In Vegas collection which has since then skyrocketed in views! So that was another reason I had to use these polishes!

31DC2015 Day 8 Metallic: Nail Foil Fun

Mmmk it’s official folks! I’m mucking in love with nail foil! I’ve used it once before but using it for todays Metallic prompt of the 31 day challenge is a whole different story. First off I only have one roll of foils but thankfully its five different colors, if only it had blue then this would be a true foiled rainbow, but hey I think it looks great anyway!

I used a base of Aengland ‘Camelot to help the foil really stand out and I had some foil glue which helped with application SOOOO MUCH! No wonder they call it foil glue. HA! Both the glue and this roll of foil was give to me a long time ago by one of my very favorite people, Jo of Lacquer Lust. Thanks to her for me being able to create this manicure! I was thinking about stamping overtop of it but I didn’t even attempt that I’m too much in love with the outcome on its own. For reals people I need all the foils out there, like gimme em all!

31DC2015 Day 7 Black & White: 101 Dalmantians

It’s a miracle! I got thru the first week of the 31 day challenge! My wheels are still turning and going on full force. Sure the gas is getting a little low but theres a station up ahead so I’ll be able to refuel soon, HA! Now sure I could have done a nice crisp black and white water marble or even some sort of stampin both of which would have looked lovely in black and white, but I went out of my comfort zone and tried a totally new technique. I was initially inspired by my ring finger, after Cruella Deville which turned into these 101 Dalmatian nails!

After seeing one of Yagala’s video tutorials earlier today using magazine clippings to create decals I had to try it out with regular printer paper. You may have seen the newspaper technique where you use alcohol to get the words from the paper to adhere to your nail, but it always comes out backwards. With this technique you topcoat the image, let it dry, cut it out then soak it in water for awhile. Then you scrap all the paper off, which was probably the hardest part about this although I’m still trying to figure out this whole decal application business as well, but other then that I love how I was able to get an image from the computer and put it on my nails! Like for reals people how awesome! I also put the puppies little parents on my thumb but I wasn’t feeling any of the photos I got.

I’m glad I went out of my comfort zone for this design. The puppies may be a little faint but it still turned out good and you get the idea.
